Co-organized a flagship ASCE conference at FIU that featured nearly 200 presentations and attracted approximately 300 participants from 30 countries, bringing together leading researchers, industry experts, and policymakers in space technology. The event strengthened industry-academic partnerships and advanced research collaborations in space infrastructure, extraterrestrial construction, and extreme-environment engineering. Its success generated new collaborative opportunities and provided students with exposure to cutting-edge research and emerging technologies, enhancing their academic and professional development. Organized a major outreach event representing the FIU Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) Department, securing financial support from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and FIU’s Center for Development, Support, and Success in Engineering and Computing (CD-SSEC). Designed and led the program to highlight emerging challenges in urban development and infrastructure engineering while promoting awareness of civil engineering and encouraging interest in engineering careers among prospective students. The event engaged approximately 300 attendees, including 200 high school students from five Miami-Dade County schools, regional civil engineering professionals, and FIU students and faculty. The program featured keynote presentations, a screening of ASCE’s “Cities of the Future” film, a panel discussion involving FIU faculty, industry professionals, and a high school educator, an interactive question-and-answer session, and post-event assessment activities. The distinguished panel brought together representatives from academia, K-12 education, and professional engineering leadership to discuss the future of cities and the evolving role of civil engineers in addressing societal and infrastructure challenges. The event strengthened connections among FIU, local schools, and the engineering profession while providing participants with valuable insights into career pathways, emerging technologies, and contemporary issues in the built environment.
